چکیده

Abstract Background left ventricular non-compaction (LVNC) cardiomyopathy is an often underdiagnosed and under-classified disease deriving from the incomplete development of myocardium. Clinical presentations may be variable uncommon, ranging apparent lack functional anomalies to heart failure, arrhythmias and, in some cases, even ischemic stroke. Despite great improvements diagnostic performance there still a widespread evidence regarding prognosis management affected patients. Methods all consecutive patients admitted our Cardiology Institution October 2009 August 2022 fulfilling LVNC criteria by echocardiography or cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) both, were consecutively enrolled. CMR has been performed wherever possible. All underwent complete cardiological visit, 12-lead ECG at baseline, whereas follow-up, if visit was not possible, information patients’ endpoints acquired through telephonic contact. Additional exams implantation cardiac device also indicated. The primary endpoint composite least one between: sustained arrhythmias, appropriate ICD intervention sudden death. Secondary included supraventricular unplanned hospitalizations, acute decompensated, chronic failure Risk predictor analyses as overall event rates low risk for type II error high. Results forty (26 males; age 45±17) prospectively enrolled followed up median five years. agreeing on majority diagnoses, with 62.5% meeting echo 70% LVNC. incidence 1.8% per Male gender late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) correlated increased endpoint, while LVEF, NC/C status associated significantly endpoint. HF diagnosis most common (6.1% annual incidence). 3.0% stroke 0.7%. Twenty-four (60%) experienced hospitalization during follow-up. Unplanned hospitalizations represented 20% mainly HF-related. Planned elective procedures such atrial fibrillation cardioversion, ablation, coronary angiography check-ups. Discussion LVNC, cardiac-related outcomes than general population; furthermore, male myocardial fibrosis are events. This trend highlights importance prompt obviously, correct knowledge disease.

Visually guided laser ablation: a single-centre long-term experience.

AIMS Durable isolation of the pulmonary veins (PVs) remains the cornerstone of treatment for paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (PAF) and is also used in the treatment of some patients with persistent atrial fibrillation. Visually guided laser ablation (VGLA) has been proven to be safe and effective as a treatment for atrial fibrillation (AF). It has shown high levels of durable PV isolation (PVI),...

This study aims to determine the clinical outcomes of pulmonary valve replacement (PVR) surgery in pediatrics. Methods: The authors retrospectively identified all pediatrics undergoing PVR surgery at Imam Reza hospital (Mashhad, Iran) between 2000 and 2020. Their medical records...

Management of Perinatal Testicular Torsion: A Single Centre Experience

Perinatal testicular torsion (PTT) is a rare entity. The management of PTT is controversial, due to the low viability of the testis and the possibility of bilateral torsion. This is a review of our experience with six cases of PTT, highlighting diagnostic and therapeutic difficulties of this condition.

Long-term prognosis of parathyroid function in chronic dialysis patients after PEIT—a single-centre trial

Background. Secondary hyperparathyroidism (SHPT) is a common complication observed in long-term dialysis patients. Percutaneous ethanol injection therapy (PEIT) of parathyroid glands (PTGs) is now established in Japan as a treatment option for SHPT. In this study, to elucidate the factors influencing efficacy in 1 year and relapse following PEIT, we analysed the long-term prognosis of parathyro...

Total body nitrogen predicts long-term mortality in haemodialysis patients--a single-centre experience.

BACKGROUND It has been estimated that 30-50% of adult haemodialysis patients have moderate to severe malnutrition. We have previously shown that estimation of total body nitrogen, expressed as a nitrogen index (NI) by in vivo neutron activation analysis (IVNAA) is an accurate tool for estimating total body protein in dialysis patients. It is not clear whether the nitrogen index is predictive of...
